While shuffling through the MICA Decker Library’s collection of historic ephemera, I came across a pamphlet for Vasarely Week in New York—an event to honor of one of my favorite optical art painters, Victor Vasarely. Using his monochromatic prints as inspiration, I decided to re-brand the event. The multi-day celebration also happened to coincide with Vasarely’s birthday. So, in addition to creating an exhibition catalogue, a tear-off mini publication and a poster, I made a birthday card! The print featured on all designed ephemera is Vasarely’s Vega, 1957.
